Levels of play

T-Ball Ages 5-7 (8 girls)

Players hit off of a Tee. Tis is to develop the proper stance and swing. Also to let them focus on the hand and eye skill and not to just meet the ball. Players use a safety ball.  T-ball level is recommended for children who have never played organized ball before.  Depending on age and skill, 2 years in this division is recommended.  Teams will be primarily formed based on player’s school.

AA Minor Ages 7-9

Players are pitched to by coaches for part of the game, and by players for the remainder of the game.  If a player misses 3 pitches they are then able to hit off a Tee.  Players use a safety ball.  Recommended for children who have a basic understanding and proficiency of the game and/or have completed at least 1 year of T-Ball.  Depending on age and skill, 2 years in this division is recommended.  Teams will be formed based on player’s school.

AAA Minor Ages 9-12

Players pitch the whole game using a regulation ball for the division.  The AAA level minors is recommended for 9 & 10 year olds who have completed 2 years in AA Minors, or are proficient in hitting off of a pitcher. Also AAA level is recommended for 11, 12 year olds with little or no experience playing baseball.  2 years recommended in this division.  Teams are formed by tryouts, and a player registered for Minor A may be drafted up to the Majors.  All players are signing up for Minor A are required to tryout.  Tryouts are to evenly distribute of players for best experience and to place players in proper division for safety.  All players will make a team.

Majors Ages 10-12

Players pitch the whole game using a hard baseball.  Base paths are longer than Minor A.  Teams play other teams outside of Albany.  Recommended for players who have played 2 years Minor A or are proficient in hitting off a pitcher.  Although a player may register for this division, teams will be formed by tryouts.  A player who played on a major team last year will not tryout, they stay on the same team as the previous year, although managing and coaching staff may not be the same.

Juniors Ages 13-14 & Seniors Ages 14-16

Teams will play other teams outside of Albany.  Teams will be formed by tryouts. It is possible these levels will be combined with other areas in the District 7 Boundries.
