Frequently Asked Questions

  •  Can I help my child’s team at practices or games?
    • Only volunteers that have a volunteer League ID badge, carried in plain view, are allowed to help at practices and games. Volunteers are carefully screened and approved to provide the best protection for players.
  • How do I get a League ID badge?
    • You must submit a volunteer application and successfully pass a background check. Individuals may not be on the field, for practices or games, until a volunteer League ID badge is issued by the Board of Directors. Visit our website, print and fill out a volunteer application, and submit it to the president of the League.
  •  Who needs to submit a volunteer application?
    • Managers, coaches, scorekeepers, base coaches, bench assistants, team parents and anyone who will be around players.
  • I filled out a volunteer form last year. Do I need to fill one out this year?
    • Yes. National Little League requires a new volunteer application every year.
  • How do I figure my child’s age for Little League purposes?
    • For Baseball/T-Ball figure out what age he/she will be on April 30, 2010.
For Softball, figure out what age she will be on December 31, 2009.
  • When is the last day of Registration?
    • No more applications will be accepted after February 20, 2010.
  • How are teams formed?
    • Teams are formed for T-Ball & 2A Divisions by school.
Although, it is rare that teams will consist of only one school. Because some schools may not have enough players or may have too many players to form one team, schools may need to be split or combined. Late registrants will be added to a waiting list and players will be assigned to a team at the discretion of the division coordinator. Teams for players in divisions 3A, Majors and Juniors are organized by evaluations and draft. Drafting players allows for an evenly mixed team of various skil1 levels and results are confidential.
  •  Will all players who register be on a team?
    • Yes, for ages 12 and below. Because of the limited interest in teams for ages 13 and above it may or may not be necessary to limit the number of players on the team based on an evaluation.
  • What kind of uniform do I need?
    • A T-shirt and hat will be provided to all players 12 & below, which they will be allowed to keep. Baseball/Softball pants for T-Ball & 2A Divisions are not a required part of the uniform, but are recommended. Cleats are recommended for 2A and above. Metal cleats are allowed at the Junior (13-14 year old) division ONLY.
      Frequently Asked Questions (continued)
  •  Where do I purchase baseball/softball pants?
    • You may purchase them at most sporting good stores.
  •  What kind of equipment will my child need?
    • All equipment will be provided except a glove. Because of lice concerns, some parents feel more comfortable purchasing their own helmet. Helmets may NOT be painted but may have names with stickers on the inside bill. Painting voids the warranty and decreases protective properties of the helmet.
  •  When will practices be held?
    • Practices are at the managers' discretion.
  •  When are games held?
    • Regular season scheduled games will start at 5:30 or 6:00 pm during the week, with the exception of some Saturday games at the 3A, Majors and Junior divisions.
  • How many games will be played?
    • At least 12 games for the season. More games may be played at 3A, Majors and Juniors divisions.
  •  How do I know if a game is rained out?
    • Rainouts will be made up at the earliest possible date, and could possibly be scheduled on a Saturday. Your Manager or Coach will call you and inform you of any rain out games. Please do not call the hotline as umpires and managers make this decision prior to the start of the game.

This is very competitive post-season play, which travels to Salem to play in the District tournament. Teams have the potential to continue play and progress to State, Divisional, Regional, and World Series Tournaments. The 2007 Albany/Corvallis Softball Senior girls won State and went to Montana to compete in Regionals.

    • Everyone is welcomed to attend and provide feedback and ideas to the Board of Directors. Meetings are held on the 3rd Monday of each month, at Ray’s Food or at Allied Waste's meeting room, at 6:30 pm. Meetings are used to discuss, plan and coordinate League activities.
  • I have no coaching or umpire training or experience, can I have the opportunity to give it a try?
    • YES! Upon passing a background check and approval from the Board, anyone can coach or umpire! We provide several training opportunities to Managers, Coaches and Umpires. We are one of the few organizations who offer free manager and coach training. If you are interested in becoming a certified umpire, ask a board member how to get involved.
